James has more than 20 years of experience in strategy and financial services. He previously worked at Westpac, where he served as Chief Strategy Officer and also Chief Data & Strategy Officer. Prior to his roles at Westpac, James was the Managing Director, Americas for First State Investments (then owned by Commonwealth Bank), and before that at Commonwealth Bank in Sydney. He began his career at McKinsey & Company, where he worked in the New York and then in the Sydney offices.
Michael Bencsik

Michael brings over 30 years of experience in banking, insurance and financial services across Australia, USA, Asia, UK and UAE. Michael previously held the role of Chief Financial Officer, Helia (formerly Genworth Mortgage Insurance). Michael began his career at Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) before moving on to senior executive finance and strategy listed company roles at Westpac Banking Group, HSBC Bank Australia, HSBC Holdings plc (UK), Commonwealth Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank (UAE), and Bank of Queensland.
Elena Chan
Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel

Elena has over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Beforepay, Elena was the Head of Group Transformation Office at Westpac and spent nine years at Westpac holding various legal, risk and business roles. She was an in-house lawyer in the Westpac Institutional Bank Legal team for three years and led the Financial Markets legal team for Westpac’s Institutional Bank for three years. Prior to joining Westpac, Elena worked at a number of law firms and corporations in Australia and the United Kingdom, including Henry Davis York, Morgan Stanley, Simmons & Simmons and PricewaterhouseCoopers. She has extensive experience in advising financial institutions on a full range of financial products and services offerings.
Kasey Kaplan
Chief Product Officer

Over the past decade, Kasey has worked extensively across a broad range of industries, including payments and fintech, blockchain, retail, marketing and events, e-commerce and online marketplaces. Prior to joining Beforepay, Kasey was the Global Head of Product at Cover-More Group (a Zurich Insurance company); before that, he was on the founding team of Urban FT, a successful fintech in the United States.
Rajini Carpenter
Chief Technology Officer
Advanced Diploma in Computer Science & Engineering
Rajini has more than 23 years' experience in Information Technology and the finance industry, with expertise across IT Security, IT Governance & Risk, and Architecture & Engineering. Rajini has led the development of world-class technology solutions and customer-centred client experiences, previously holding the roles of VP of Engineering at Deputy and Head of Engineering, Wealth Management at Iress prior to joining Beforepay. Rajini is also a Board Director at Judo NSW.
